Here are some of the things happening in our community this week.

What’s Coming Up
New Member’s Class – 14 June from 5–7pm
If you are interested in becoming a member of this church, whether you are seeking to transfer your membership from another church or join as a first time church member, we want to encourage you to attend our New Member’s Class on 14 June from 5–7pm. We are going to start with pizza and conversation, and then we will dive into what membership means and looks like at Berwick Baptist. Feel free to come out even if you are interested but not sure yet—there is no pressure to join after you take the class! We hope to see you there!
Baptisms this Summer….Not this Sunday
Part way through the service this past Sunday, Kayla nudged me and said, “Is there baptisms this coming Sunday?” With a surprised look on my face, I replied, “no, why?” And she shared with me that during the announcements I had apparently stated that there was going to be baptisms this Sunday! Well, if you heard this as well, please note: there are no Baptisms this Sunday. That being said, we are very excited that we are looking to plan a Baptism service sometime this summer. If you have confessed faith in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, but have never been Baptized, we would love to have the honour of walking with you through the waters of Baptism. Please reach out to one of the Pastor’s for more information.
Prayer Room and Bible Study
I am writing this on Tuesday, and this morning we had a sweet time of prayer in the Prayer Room. I want to invite you all to our next gathering, which is tomorrow evening (20 May) at 7:30pm. I also want to remind each of you of our Bible Study hour on Sunday mornings at 9am. We are still looking at “How To Study the Bible” before we dive into 1 Peter. We would love to see you there!

What We Are Celebrating
Successful Plant and Bake Sale
This past Saturday, the WWS Auxiliary hosted their annual Plant and Bake Sale—and I have heard it was a great success! Thank you to all who baked and provided plants, and who came out to support the good work of the Auxiliary. Although I was not able to stop by and get my usual fill of goodies, the ladies were gracious enough to set some of my favourites aside for me! Thank you!

One Prayer This Week
For our prayer this week, I want to mention two things. First, I will be leading a funeral on Wednesday for Phyllis Mae Loomer. Some of you will know this name, so of you will not. However, many of you will recall Mary Perkins. Phyllis was Mary’s sister. Pray for Mary, Amanda, and all the family. Second, I am just finishing reading a book called Revitalize, which is all about church renewal. One of the points it mentions is to be regular praying for 5 people. Well, I want to encourage each of you to come up with 2 names: one name from the church and one a family member or community member. Would you do that? Consider praying for those 2 names for the rest of May and June.
Talk soon,
Evan
Berwick Baptist Church
P.S. Caleb is off on vacation for this week. Please keep him and his family in prayer. Pray that he has a great time of rest and relaxation.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
