Berwick Baptist Weekly | June 8-14

Here are some of the things happening in our community this week.

What’s Coming Up

Community Block Party

Our annual community Block Party event is just over two weeks away, on June 27th from 4-6 pm. This event offers an opportunity to connect with the wider Berwick community and have some fun together.

An event like this can only be successful with the help of many volunteers. This Sunday (and next), we will have signup sheets available to find people to serve, making this event possible. The two main ways to get involved are by volunteering at the event and by donating food in the lead-up to the event.

We hope you will consider serving in at least one of these ways and come prepared to sign up this Sunday!

Induction Service

Please plan to join us on Sunday, June 22nd at 4 pm for an Induction Service for Evan and me (Caleb)! We will gather together to worship in what I am sure will be a meaningful time as a church family. Pastor Danny Smith will be the guest speaker, and we are excited to hear the message he brings. A reception will follow the service.

Evan and I are thrilled to be entering this new stage of full-time ministry now that we have made it to June, and we look forward to celebrating with you all on June 22nd.

Parenting Seminar

We gathered this past Saturday for the first of three sessions in our Parenting Seminar. This means there are two more coming up! We will gather again this Saturday (June 14th) as well as June 21st from 9-11 am. The sessions are led by Kathleen Murphy (Clinical Social Worker: MSW, RSW - Clinical Specialist), who is presenting a framework called the Circle of Security.

The first session was excellent, with one person describing it as a collaborative conversation on parenting. If you missed the first one but are still interested, we would like to encourage you to attend this Saturday.

What We Are Celebrating

Work Day

This past Saturday, we had 12 people show up to help move one of the old furnaces out of the basement. We are celebrating the commitment this shows to partnering with the gospel and the mission of our church. This is just one example of the many ways that people give sacrificially of their time to contribute towards the mission.

Sunday Morning Atmosphere

This past Sunday, I had the privilege of engaging in meaningful conversations with several individuals who had recently visited our church for a worship gathering, and I was greatly encouraged by the feedback they provided. They were speaking of the atmosphere, and they used words like refreshing, encouraging, and exciting, noting that there was excellent energy in the room. Great things to have said as we celebrated two significant anniversaries: the anniversary of Pentecost and the 197th anniversary of our church.

This week, we are celebrating the positive, God-honouring atmosphere that we are cultivating here at Berwick Baptist.

One Prayer This Week

Pray for God to reveal himself as we seek him and ask to know him more.
